Welcome to the Buford Elementary School Media Center where we have a love for reading! We are so happy you are here. The mission of the library media program at Buford Elementary School is to provide a wide range of materials to both enhance the current curriculum and promote an interest in life-long learning and reading.

Media Center Information:

✔️Student Check-Outs:

Students may come to check out books on any school day during school hours. Our students are able to check out 2 books.

📚 Book Fairs:
The Media Center sponsors two Book Fairs each school year. One fair is held in the fall and the other in the spring.

🎅Santa Shop:
The Media Center sponsors a Santa Shop in December for students to purchase gift items for family members.

Our Buford Elementary School Media Center is always buzzing with students!  Students have the opportunity to check out books all throughout the day, as their teachers allow.  With our media center being open all day and having students come multiple times during the day, we tend to accumulate a large number of books just waiting to be placed back on the shelves for their next reader.  We truly enjoy having volunteers come in to assist with re-shelving our books or assisting with tasks we might be working on.  We always need volunteers for our book fairs and Santa Shop.

📫Please email [email protected] if you are interested in volunteering in our media center.📫

Our school expectation is for students to read and check out at least 2 books per week. Students work toward quarterly individual, class, and school-wide goals to motivate and encourage reading across genres.

Destiny is the online catalog used for the BES media center.  Teachers and students are able to click the link to the left and search Destiny for books we have within our media center.  Students can look for books at home and bring their wish list to school to help us find what they enjoy to read. COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS -- Where students become a member of the Gwinnett County Public Libraries in order to be able to utilize the resources the public library has available as well. Click the link to the left to visit the GCPL and click HERE to read more about Community Connections
Storyline Online is a free website in which students can visit to watch and have books read to them from various actors from the Screen Actors Guild (SAG).  A fun way to help keep our students excited about reading and their love of books. We also have BES students who in live in Hall County.  If this might be your family, be sure to visit your local Hall County Public Library and receive your FREE membership card in order to check out books from their branch.  You might even find a fun activity to attend on their website.
